April Open Board meetingPlace: Rm 201, Morristown Town Hall (200 South St.)
Check back before the meeting for additional agenda items. How do we get Google Maps, Yahoo! Maps, MapQuest etc. to recognize us?We don't know. Until someone works out how to get new developments on the map, you'll have to settle with typing in 1 Ford Ave to get your visitors almost to Morris Place: Thanks Google! For a more visually appealling locator, you could check out Google's satellite image maps. Here we are in color! (Well, we would have been if they'd captured the image in the summer or early fall.) (I guess this shot explains why we're not on Google's Maps.) And how do you to NY from Morris Place? Here: That's pretty amazing. Parking in visitor areasNow that you know how to get your visitors to Morris Place, let's make sure they have somewhere to park. Fact: There are 76 units at Morris Place, each with an average of 2 registered vehicles. Fact: There are 32 spaces reserved for visitor parking. That doesn't leave much room for our guests. Thanks to all who have made an effort to park in your driveways and garages on a regular basis rather than in the visitor parking areas. While this isn't the most convenient arrangement for most, your actions have helped free up more space for our guests. Reminder: Register all vehicles. You can register your vehicle(s) by

Spring 2005 Resident Directory sign-upWould you like to look up your neighbors' names, so you don't have to ask them for a third time? Or do you need to call a neighbor to let them know their alarm is going off? Well, we did – so we started the Morris Place phone and address directory last year. The information is amassed in a printed list which will be disseminated only to those who submit their contact details. To receive and have your name added to the print Morris Place community directory, go to www.morrisplace.net/forms/signup/directory. I signed up last year, do I need to sign up again? No. Your information will carry through to the Spring 2005 directory. However, if you need to update your contact information or wish to be removed from the list, please let us know. Are our storm-drain grates rusted? No doubt you've been wondering whether it's normal for our storm-drain grates to look rusted a little over one year after having been installed. Well, they're not rusted. According to David Rand, from Becht Engineering, “The storm drain grates are cast iron, so the “rusting” you see is typical. New cast iron grates and manhole covers will show bright orange surface rust. This rust easily rubs off over time from traffic and weather, leaving behind a more corrosion resistant surface that will last a long time. This process may take a few years to complete.” (No we didn't have to pay for this.) Mr. Rand kindly passed on an article that explains the process in more detail. You can download it here. March/April maintenance update
Use and storage of gas grillsWe've been through this before, but with the warmer weather finally returning home, we need to make sure that all gas grill tanks have gone into permanent hibernation (off the property!). You should have received an indemnity in the mail to be signed and returned to Community Management by April 25, 2005. This indemnity covers your compliance with both New Jersey law and the Association's rules regarding the use and storage of grills. In summary, the rules regarding grills are as follows:
If you currently have a gas grill, you must remove it from the property immediately. You are asked to indicate your understanding of these rules by signing the indemnity letter that you received in the mail (or downloaded from here) and returning it by mail or fax to Candice Bladt (contact information below) no later than Monday, April 25, 2005. Thanks for your cooperation. Kelly Balady
